Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar College of Social Work, Morane, Dhule celebrated a one day national conference on ‘Social Work Education In India: Emerging Trends and Challenges’ on 23rd August 2017. About 128 participants including professors, Ph.D. Scholars, NGO representatives and students participated in the conference.
The conference was inaugurated by Dr. N. K. Thakare, the first Vice – Chancellor of the North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon, Maharashtra. Prof. Vilas Wagh, Secretary, Samata Shikshan Sanstha, Pune presided over the session. Also present on the occasion were Hon. Uttam Kamble, Editor of Sakal Newspaper, Nasik; Prof. Ambadas Mohite Founder President of MASWE, Maharastra. Dr S.I. Kumbhar, Dean of Social Science faculty, Bharti Vidyapith, Pune, Dr. Jalindar Adsule, Principal, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar College of Social Work, Morane, Dhule.
Com. Najubai Gavit, a renowned social activist inaugurated the one day workshop on “Socio-economic and Cultural Variations amongst the Tribals” organized by the College on 29th July, 2017. She expressed that the current trends are that researchers conduct research sitting in air – conditioned offices. She laid stress on the fact that researchers should reach the tribal villages, and homes of the Tribals and through interaction with them identify their problems and issues. In his presidential address Dr. Jalindar Adsule, Principal mentioned that it is crucial and extremely important to re-visit the issues of Tribals as their lives have undergone a lot of transformation, as a result of which new issues have emerged. He said that many of the Tribals no longer reside in forests and their traditional occupations related to forests have also changed.
Samata Shikshan Sanstha’s Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar College of Social Work, Morane, Dhule is organizing one day workshop on “Socio Economic and Cultural variations among Tribals” on 29th July 2017. The College has been working with the tribal community since 20 years. While teaching as well as during the course of field work in the tribal villages, the need for taking up research work in the field of tribal development was felt.
Hence the college conducted a study on “Socio Economic and Cultural variations among tribal people of North Maharashtra Region.” which was sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Sciences Research (ICSSR), New Delhi. The study is exclusively related to three major tribes namely – Bhil, Pawara and Kokana from three districts of North Maharashtra Region.
